Nothing is cleaner than a straightforward floating shelf. The issue is, nevertheless, attaching a plate into the wall with no support under (i.e. the floating part) inherently will make it tough to bear any loading. This particularly applies to the majority of those pre-fab floating shelf kits, which are essentially thin MDF boxes which sag at any type of weight. And if you don’t do not care about precise placement of the shelf (which you do), then it’s likely that you will not be fortunate enough to possess more than just one mounting hole fall on a stud.
After trying multiple different cheap floating shelf kits, Becki and I got fed up and decided to design and construct our own. All things considered, the idea of a floating shelf is pretty straight forward: it consists of a mounting bracket and shelf/cover that slides across the bracket.
